Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

My Students

My second grade students come from various cultural backgrounds and live in a diverse community in an inner city. Many come from low-income homes and several speak English as a second language. They come to school with inquisitive minds and a desire to learn. We set our learning goals weekly and work diligently together to achieve them.

My students are engaged and strive to be the best they can be.

Our mantra is: "Goals we set are goals we get!"

Each day presents new opportunities to share their love of learning in many creative ways. Providing each student with the best possible environment to maximize their learning experience is of great importance in helping to attain each students' goals. It is important for this population of students to have access to hands-on materials that help support the curriculum they are learning about.

My Project

My students come from culturally diverse backgrounds and I would like to incorporate more literature that is culturally relevant to their lives. We will use the books for read alouds and as a springboard for discussions so that we can learn to appreciate each other's differences and embrace our similarities. These books will enrich my students knowledge of other cultures and help them to be proud of who they are.

I believe that by having books with characters that my students can relate to will help to instill a passion for reading and a love of literature.

Please help us make our project come to life!
