Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a teacher working in a Title 1 school, my students are often faced with challenges both inside and outside of the classroom. I look to create a safe and fun space for my students within our classroom walls. My students deserve meaningful and enriching learning environments.

My students are innovative, adventurous, and incredibly creative.

My students are active and energetic. They love to participate in learning activities. The students enjoy positive reinforcement and working with one another. From the moment a student becomes a member of my classroom, they become a member of our classroom community and family. I focus on not only academia, but improving and bettering the "whole" child: academically, socially, and emotionally. I hope I inspire my students, some of our youngest learners, to continue to love to learn.

My Project

Living in a large metropolis city, my students live in an incredibly diverse society. There are over ten languages spoken within our school community alone. It is important that children are not only exposed to, but are understanding and welcoming of differing cultures, customs, and beliefs. I believe well-rounded students will become better leaders in our society. I want my students to celebrate diversity and embrace one another's uniqueness.

These books will be a great addition to our classroom library for students to explore throughout the school year and well as the foundation for many of the thematic units in our curriculum.

My hope is for these books to spark conversations in the classroom and at home, with students making connections to their own cultures.
