it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am a passionate National Board Certified Education Teacher/Specialist working in a high school setting. Our school is a Title I school serving a diverse population. The students I work with are determined and strive to persevere through social, emotional, and academic challenges. My Community-Based Instruction (CBI) class has worked on the yearbook staff, attended school activities, volunteered in the community, and served on the (ASB) Associated Student Body. They excel with movement and hands-on experiences. I am blessed to be their teacher and strive to encourage students beyond their greatest expectations.
To celebrate the Lunar New Year in the classroom, I will focus on hands-on activities and cross-cultural connections to make it an inclusive and educational experience.
These snacks; such as protein bars, chips, and popcorn are a symbolic treats representing good fortune, wealth, and longevity. As we work through our Lunar New Year lessons, students will have the opportunity to earn fake dollars. These fake dollars can be exchanged for snacks. These snacks will teach students about about core cultural values like prosperity, family unity, and longevity. Students will also learn snacks are symbolic treats, often sweet or savory, representing luck, and togetherness. Thank you for supporting students with unique needs. I am grateful for your support.
