Help me give my students diverse books in their first language! Many of my second grade students claim Spanish as their first language and are still learning English. These books will help bring the two together!
I want all of my students to have the ability to read books in their native language! Many of my students speak Spanish and are still learning English. I am a first year teacher, so I am starting with a blank slate when it comes to a classroom library.
I want these books to peak students' interest and help bridge the gap between their to languages, encouraging bilingualism!
Books in English are easier to find at cheaper rate and thrift stores---books in Spanish are hard to come by!
These students are resilient and come from various walks of life. Each of them deserve to feel seen in a book and their class library.
