My Project

The books I have chosen will be added to our collection and will give students the opportunity to read, recognize, and respect ways of life that may be different than their own. These books are highly engaging which will encourage students to read for enjoyment, learn about others, and see themselves in the characters.

As students read about diverse populations, the hope is that they will gain a feeling of empathy and compassion for those who may not look, dress, speak, or believe the same.

I believe we need to encourage our younger readers to look past their differences and be accepting and understanding of everyone. These books will help start great conversations about acceptance and understanding.
