The enjoyment and pleasure of language through melodical sounds and audio books has no limits in an ESL classroom. Music has always been a fantastic medium to teach English as a Second Language. I, myself, learned much of the English I know through it. I want my students to enjoy the beautiful sounds of the English language while they are learning it in the 'Listening Zone' of our ESL classroom. Right now, this place lacks a soul, the beat coming from CDs and cassettes played in regular CD/cassette players. What we have is a squared table with a colorful and pretty sign hanging from the ceiling that says Listening Zone; the kids' enthusiasm and continuous interest to find out what that space is all about. "When are we doing something there Ms. Lopez?" they always ask; and my excitement for getting 3 CD players to rock and enchant our ESL world with songs and audio books. 18 English Language learning tiny Latin faces will smile and have fun while they listen to stories and songs with individual audio equipment. What we need is: 3 CD/cassette players; 3 sets of head phones; audio books; and children's songs to bring our listening song to life. Please, help us make this project a reality (SMILE).
