Our school promotes an effective learning environment for all of our students. Students love learning in many different and unique ways. Students need materials that will keep them engaged and visuals to assist in areas of curriculum that are unknown to them.
Students need to be encouraged to read by seeing others throughout our school building being caught reading.
Students are going to be required to think differently, and teachers need to get creative in their teaching.
Kindergarten, first, and second grade classrooms are working on bridging the gaps that happened during last school year while continuously being engaged in their learning. Our literacy committee is working hard to engage young readers while bringing our learning community together!
My Project
Students need to visually seeing others reading in order to make connections, as well as see book recommendations from their fellow teachers in order to spark their interest.
Students will see throughout the school their fellow peers, teachers, parents, and community members "caught reading" their favorite book and will make them also want to be caught with a good fit book!
Students are so excited for what our school's literacy committee is striving to provide them with, which is a rich literacy filled school community.
We are looking to spark their interest by having a school wide bulletin board for all who are caught reading at school/home, bulletin boards with teachers recommendations for the current month's theme, as well as a virtual book room that has teachers recording themselves reading their book of the month. It is so important to start students young with reading texts that are engaging, while promoting creativity. That is what we are striving to do at our school!
