My students need the book, "I Can Calm." This book will help them self-regulate and build skills to breath and calm. I would like for each child to have one personal copy at home.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school family is made of 8 children with a variety of disabilities. My students have developmental delays, autism, speech delays, sensory issues, Down syndrome, and other special needs. Our school receives free lunch from a grant due to the income of the families at SRE.
My goal as an educator is to help my students learn social skills, and self-regulating skills so that they can be successful!
Throughout the school day, we are interacting with learning opportunities to build on social interactions.
My Project
We use the book, I Can Calm, within the classroom daily to help the children calm and breathe when they become upset. I would like to give each individual child this gift to keep with them as a resource to help them self-regulate at home as well. I would like to order 8 books, one per child to use to help them calm. The book provides the children with five breathing skills to help develop the ability to self regulate. The purpose is to place one copy of the book with each child in their home
My children know how to use the breathing techniques in the book and would benefit from having this resource at home to help them self-regulate.
I would like to share this with parents and build that school and home connection! This is a gift that the children will have for many years to come and will be able to use it when ever things become challenging and tough.
