My Students

However, even the most powerful weapons need the right supplies.

I teach 3rd grade at a Title I eligible school in the Utah. I love to help my students discover new things and pursue their individual passions in science, technology, engineering and math. My students are bright individuals growing up in an increasingly digital and scientific age. They love having the opportunity to explore and create.

My Project

COVID-19 has impacted almost every aspect our our lives and it seems like education was hit especially hard. My amazing students have been working so hard this school year to catch up where they are behind in reading and math. I would love the supplies necessary to help them continue to be successful.

Two plus years of on-again/off-again online learning, and shortened school schedules have left my students unprepared for the rigors of all day school.

Bouncy bands will help them burn off some of the excess energy. It will allow them to focus on lessons and increase the amount of time they are able to work independently.

Second, super engaging reading books, specifically graphic novels, will help the students improve reading skills. The pictorial nature of graphic novels helps to scaffold comprehension, giving the students the ability to read independently. They can still read "chapter books" while the students and I work hard together on gaining essential reading skills that are missing due to COVID-19.

Last, virtual learning has lead to a distinct lack on concrete understanding of mathematics concepts. Fraction tiles will help students learn in very visual, concrete terms.
