This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

This project provides a hands-on opportunity for students to learn about metallurgy, a subject often relegated to theory in textbooks. By working with real metal, students can understand its properties, behavior under heat, and the practical aspects of casting. Secondly, it fosters creativity and innovation as students can experiment with different casting techniques and designs without the worry of material cost. This freedom encourages them to explore their ideas more freely and think critically about the casting process. Moreover, acquiring metal and casts for free eliminates financial barriers, ensuring that all students have equal access to this enriching educational experience regardless of their socioeconomic background. Overall, free metal for casting empowers students to engage actively in their learning, promotes creativity, and creates a more inclusive classroom environment.
