Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"Do not let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do," John Weldon said, and this is what I want my students to live by each and every day. I would like for my students to have a love of reading novels and experience new things through that love.

My students are from a diverse background.

The neighborhood that they come from is a very tough one, however, my students come to school each day ready to work and with an open mind. I appreciate them greatly!!! Many of my students are faced with situations that normally do not occur until later in life. My students are those who learn the value of perseverance early in life.

My Project

When my students receive "The Mis-Education of the Negro" by Carter Godwin Woodson, we will study this novel so that they know they are capable of doing so much more in life. I would like for all my students to understand that their futures depends on how they react to present situations. Education is the key to success. It is not about money or material things. The students will organize a presentation to the class to reveal what they learned from the novel study.

When my students read this book, my goal is to facilitate a mindset of never giving up.

I want them to realize their future is in their hands. Each student should realize they are in control of themselves and not anyone else. This generation is so used to having every thing handed to them, that they do not realize that history is repeating itself. We are still slaves to society and how it wants us to act.
