My Students

My student are the best and deserve the best. A place to read and learn is what we are after. My goal is to inspire my students to read, learn to socialize appropriatley, and follow directions. A rug would be a comfy place to start our day. It will kick start our learning and foster friendships.

I have the most amazing students on the planet but I guess every teacher believes that.

Our class is a special needs K-8th grade classroom. Most of my students are with me all day due to their individulized learning. Our school is a small, rural elementary school comprised of grades K-8 located in Northern Arizona.

My Project

Each morning the students will start thier day by meeting on the rug to read, complete various learning activites, and learn social skills. Reading together, learning numbers, colors, days of the week, month, and year, as well as how to appropriatley socialize with each other are all activitles we will practice each day.

A classroom rug will provide a daily meeting area for my students.

Having a routine and beginning our day in the same way each day is important for getting my students ready to learn. It will provide the consistancy needed to support learning. Being able to have the students on the rug close together and not at desks for this time will increase their ability to socialize.
