We sit as a community on the carpets and have discussions and read stories and the carpets are a central place in the room for everyone to come together, to learn and to have discussions. The carpets also create a welcoming environment. My students love space and for many lessons they have actually used the carpets to assist them with certain science projects. The squares on the other carpet also help with students knowing where to sit on the rug and they are helpful for classroom management. When students read books they are excited to sit on the carpets or work on certain projects together. The carpets have helped my students feel more comfortable and happy in the classroom. The bright colors are cheerful and engaging. \r\n \r\n When the carpets first arrived all of my students were so excited to see them and sit on them and use them in lessons and discussions. Everyone was very happy and excited and students look forward to activities when they are able to sit together as a community and share ideas and learn new things. Before the carpets arrived my classroom did not feel as warm and inviting as it does now, and my students frequently comment on how happy they are that we have the carpets and they try and sit there as often as possible. Thank you so much to all the donors that made this possible! It has completely transformed my classroom and my students are I so very grateful for your support! I've honestly never seen these kids get so into books before. Everyone was willing to read aloud (which they hate), and even when we read individually... they were so excited to read the book that they choose to read it even when they had free time. We were also able to have so many discussions about the books and the Holocaust because they were actually curious about it!\r\n\r\nWe were able to do projects about the novel as well, like our draw a scene assignments. They would have to draw a picture based off of what was happening in the chapter, and it was interesting to see what they thought was important and see their creativity. I felt a little uncomfortable taking pictures of the students, but they willingly offered their \"comfort animal\" to pose with the book, which I thought was adorable. Thanks to you, our experience has been greatly enhanced. Now, we don't have to raise our voices to be heard because the microphones carry our voices straight into the computer providing the needed feedback.
