My Students

Hello, my name is Hina and I will be teaching kindergarteners starting this August as a first-year teacher. My teaching philosophy is that students learn the best when they are in a positive learning environment where they feel welcomed, comfortable, and safe with each other. This is especially important since it will be my students' very first year of being in a classroom environment. One way that I believe I can foster this type of learning environment is to have morning circle time every morning before my little kinders start their day of learning.

My Project

This oval carpet will be used for morning meetings each day before my students start their day of learning. Students will be able to form a circle on the carpet where they can see each other's face including the teacher.

I will use this time for greeting, sharing, and collaboration and foster a positive learning environment where they can develop not only their academic skills but also their social-emotional skills.

By being able to sit down on the big carpet as a classroom family, it allows me to foster an environment where students can feel relaxed and comfortable to share their feelings, thoughts, and ideas. The carpet will also be used throughout the day for read-aloud, brain breaks, and whole class activities.
