Carpet Area Needed for Morning Meetings and Team Building!
My students need a carpet area for morning meetings and closer interpersonal learning time. We are a priority school and this would benefit my first graders tremendously!
The transition from Kindergarten to first grade can be tough! Going from tables to desks, coloring to textbooks, learning letters to learning to read books! To make this transition easier and give my students a sense of community, closeness, and team-building, we desperately need a carpet area!
We are identified as a priority school and we are also a Title 1 school.
Most of the families within our district are of low-economic status. We do not have a PTA to help us with our classroom needs and parent involvement is limited. However, our students are wonderful, ready to learn, and always try their best despite their circumstances. I would love to be able to provide them with a classroom that feels more like a home and is a place where they feel comfortable and relaxed.
My Project
Having an area rug will help us have a place where we can come together and feel closer. We can sit comfortably in a circle for morning meetings and it will be another step towards making the classroom environment more comfortable and relaxing. My students will learn how to be part of a team and work together. They will also learn how to develop interpersonal relationships, share ideas, and improve speaking and listening skills.
As a priority urban school with limited resources, having this area rug will really give my students a sense of belonging.
It will greatly effect the atmosphere in the room and make the environment more relaxing and comfortable, especially for those students who have a rough life outside of school. It will be a great way for our class to come together as a team and as a community, and sit together comfortably to learn and share everyday.
