My Students

Please help our talented students create their dream performance!!! My students go to a Performing Arts High School in NYC. This year, the dance and vocal department are collaborating on our first opera. We have been lucky enough to have The Metropolitan Opera partner with us.

My students are AWESOME!

They are performing arts students 9-12th grade. They travel from all five boroughs in New York to follow their dream of becoming actors, dancers, singers. They audition for our school as 8th graders and the competition is intense. Once accepted they have a full program of academics and a conservatory program for their arts classes. They perform all the time both in our theater and in venues in the city. It is a demanding and rigorous program but my students love it!!

My Project

I am requesting 1 video camera as a teaching tool for their performing arts classes and 1 color printer to create performance programs. A video camera will change EVERYTHING!! We would like to use it to film in class as a way to analyze what they are studying. We also want to use it to have a record of the performances so that we can reassemble pieces from shows that we would like to repeat. We need footage to put on our website and use as advertisement for performances. The camera will allow us to begin to create an educational archive of student work. My students learn to use Publisher to create all fliers, programs, tickets and any other printed material for our performances. They create BEAUTIFUL and VIVID work. We only have a black and white printer. The color printer would make all their hard work come to LIFE!!!

This project is ESSENTIAL to bringing my students work into the 21st Century.

They are being held back by old resources and a lack of technology have no words for how much this project will improve and impact the educational quality of their lives. I can't wait to see their faces up on the screen after they get the camera!!!
