My students need a new hood, filter and light for our aquarium. This will allow our fish to live in a safe environment. They will also need some more filter cartridges for the new filter.
My students are a fabulous group of fourth graders. We live in a small town in Northeast Missouri. Our school has 600 students in grades 3-5, and over 60% of those students are on free and reduced price lunch. We have lots of supportive parents in our community, but many do struggle to makes ends meet.
My students learn so much from helping to take care of our classroom pets.
Learning responsibility, compassion and how to care for pets are just a few of those things.
My Project
Our students love our classroom aquarium! It's the first thing they see when they walk in our room. Students have truly enjoyed helping take care of our fish, and would love to continue to do so.
Our aquarium, however, is in need of an update.
The hood and light are broken, as over the years they have been used by a lot of kiddos. We really need a new hood and light, so that our students can continue taking care of our fish safely.
We are asking for a new hood, to cover the top of the aquarium and keep them contained inside. This also has a light on it, so that we can see the fish inside. We need a new filter that will help keep the tank clean and free from waste. We are also asking for filter cartridges to keep the filter running cleanly and smoothly. The back of our tank is also in need of a new background cover. Finally we've also asked for some chemicals to keep our fish healthy and some food as well.
