My Students

I currently work at a low-income high school where students struggle to see their value and worth. Every day our goal is to make this a safe space where they can succeed. I teach Health Science and focus on health-related careers that these students can jump into right out of school. COVID-19 has made a huge impact on these students. Their mental health has decreased, their social skills have been impacted and their views on life have gotten isolated and negative. As instructors, we need all the help we can get to get the students on the right track.

Through an amazing team of admin and staff, we are trying to remind these students how much they have to offer.

We are getting more creative and interactive with our teaching methods to get them excited about the future. With that thought process and view on teaching, we will of course need supplies and materials that foster our ideas of a growth mindset.

My Project

I have an amazing group of students and I have been so lucky on donations to support these kids. My goal is to provide other classrooms throughout my school, with the same supplies. I feel that we can make a greater impact by spreading the care to all the students. I know how successful something as small as a pack of crackers or Gatorade can quickly turn around student engagement. My sole goal is to show the students that they matter and that others are pushing for them to succeed in every way.

Being able to offer foods, hydration and supplies to students who do not have much, makes a huge difference to them.

Staying focused and ready to learn in the classroom is what teachers strive to see in their students. Another huge resource that would benefit my students is TeachersPayTeachers. The website has so many beneficial tools that I encourporate into my lessons every day. When I initially created my year plans, I left room to figure out and adapt to how these students learn. I like to have several options because each class is different. There is no point in teaching, if they aren't going to retain it. TPT will allow me to continue keeping my lessons diversified and engaging for my classes.
