This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am the head coach of the FIRST Robotics Challenge team 3314, the Mechanical Mustangs. We are located in a suburban school district in Northern NJ. We have a highly diverse school population, with over 20 languages spoken at home. Our robotics team had an incredible 2022-23 season - we attended five competitions, including 3 district events, winning two and being finalists in the third; qualified for and won the NJ/PA/DE District Championship event, ranking #1 overall in the FIRST Mid-Atlantic District and #46 (out of 4500) in the World; seeded third in our division at worlds and we also won 4 different engineering awards throughout the season.

Robotics allows students to learn how to code, design, fabricate, and strategize; they gain incredible teamwork skills, learning to collaborate with adults and students.

They learn communication skills, documentation skills, and how to represent our town in a way that we are proud to be a Mechanical Mustang. This program has helped us to inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers in our town.

This project is for high-quality workwear cargo pants for our team members' uniforms. Competitions range from three to five days, and our students need at least two pairs of high-quality pants to wear during the competition. They need to have cargo pockets and to fit correctly on their bodies. These uniform pants are designed for our students with reinforced pockets, gussets, and knees. There are also loops for tools and a side zipper pocket on the sides.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
