My Students
My students are wonderful and talented! I teach music at a school in Chicago, Illinois. The students are low-income which makes essential necessities difficult to obtain. Many of the students find music as a way to venture out into new ideas and feelings that had never before been experienced. Most of the music students at our school go on to study music in high school and college. The parents and community love the music program and love seeing their children being successful in creating music.
My Project
We are using electronic instruments and software to teach career based music in our middle school classes. Our goal is to prepare young minds for the world outside world as it pertains to music careers. We are looking to get 2 keyboard stands for our electronic keyboards. The students will learn how to play multiple chords and songs on the keyboard, work with other musicians, and perform in any setting. This would include students learning about setup, teardown, dress rehearsals, and etiquette for performances.
The DJ controller will be used to teach the basics of mixing songs, handling equipment, and performing with other musicians.
Having this knowledge and skill is important for advancing the students' ability to be a well rounded musician in the future.
