My Project

In Youngstown, Ohio, many students face unique challenges that can affect their overall well-being and self-confidence. One essential aspect of students' daily lives often goes overlooked: personal care. For many of our inner-city youth, basic items like chapstick, a camera and lotion are not always accessible. These simple yet essential products can make a world of difference in a young person’s daily experience, helping them feel comfortable, confident, and ready to learn.

Many students in our community come from low-income households where parents or guardians struggle to afford even the most basic necessities.

These young people often face the embarrassment of not having access to personal care items that help them maintain their hygiene and self-esteem. Chapstick, deodorant, and lotion might seem small, but for a middle schooler or high schooler trying to navigate social situations, they can have a big impact.

Imagine the student who struggles to focus on a lesson because they're distracted by dry, cracked lips. Or the one who feels self-conscious in class because they don’t have deodorant or the student with dry skin wishing for a little comfort in the cold months. These daily challenges can significantly affect a student's ability to thrive in school.

With your help, we can provide these essential products to the students of Youngstown, boosting their confidence, ensuring they feel comfortable, and giving them the best chance to succeed academically.
