My Project
I teach 4th grade at a public school with students of varying ability level ranging from high school to kindergarten. Regardless of their individual abilities, every student loves learning in their own unique way and art is an area where each can explore and grow. Yet art is a subject that continues to get erased from our classrooms. We want to break that cycle and implement regular art activities for our students! Art instruction provides overwhelming academic benefits to students in a variety of areas including math, reading, science, and history.
Weekly art projects will enable our students to build problem solving skills, enhance vocabulary, and improve confidence and motivation. Regular school budgets don't provide for art resources. The construction paper, cardstock, markers, glue, and other materials will allow us to provide our students with exciting opportunities as they explore new connections and perspectives in the wonderful world of art. The students eagerly look forward to our projects with inquiring questions "Can I really make that...?" Their interest alone demonstrates their desire to learn more!
