My students not only come from low-income families but have endured Hurricane Harvey in Texas this year.
My students are mostly ESL at our Title I School.
Some are from migrant families and have changed schools frequently due to their parents jobs. the students here a respectful and sweet and eager to learn. Everyday has an "aha" moment, which make them a joy to teach.
My photography class is new to the district, and we have many excited students ready and eager to learn. I am currently trying to get all the equipment needed for this class and know that not every student has the privilege of being able to have a DSLR Camera to use.
I know my students will truly benefit through hands on activities with the camera.
My students will have the opportunity to not only learn the history of commercial/non-commercial photography; but also have hands on learning experiences that will help them gain knowledge of the proper usage of a camera, all while creating a portfolio of all photographs taken for future job searches. Not only is this a fun skill to know, but you never know when you will light a spark in a students heart and help them find there love for photography! I am super excited to start this new class.
