My students are full of creativity, energy, and heart! They absolutely love hands-on and challenging projects and always try new things. They enter my classroom every day ready to learn and excited for what the day has to offer!
My students really do have my heart and are my inspiration!
Many students are interested in digital art instead of hands-on activities and sometimes struggle to complete those hands on assignments due to lack of available materials. Our school does the best it can to provide technological devices for students but is still unable to have a 1:1 ratio. Our community also has a high level of poverty and unemployment which effects our children’s families, but our children are the ones that end up suffering the most.
Each student that I have loves learning new things even though the environment may make it twice as hard to do that efficiently and effectively sometimes.
My goal as a teacher is to do my best to provide each child not only with encouragement but the technology that will help them succeed in and outside the classroom! Each of my students is incredible and I am so lucky to be their teacher!
My Project
The Chromebooks and the digital drawing tablets will help to enhance the art experience and creativity in the art classroom for each student! As a teacher, my number one goal is to have technology available for each of my students to use in order to meet every student’s abilities in the classroom. The students would use the chromebooks and drawing tablets to create digital artwork instead of artwork on paper. I teach many students who have disabilities and these students cannot accomplish artwork any other way but digitally. Most students would benefit by having their actual physical and mental capabilities met and other students would be able to explore other creative possibilities.
My classroom is a safe and comfortable space that my students really love being in-I always encourage them to think outside the box!
Being able to accommodate my students needs digitally is extremely important to me because it not only helps to make my students successful in the classroom, but it helps them learn to apply their knowledge outside the classroom as well. Every student is treated with the same love and respect and they never skip a beat at the opportunity to try new things. As I tell my students, "the world is changing and we must change with it in the classroom!"
I love teaching and I love my students! However, several of my students struggle to even be able to purchase basic supplies much less a technological device. My students truly are thankful for the opportunities they are given to help reach their goals and interests. Recently, many students have shown a huge interest in digital art, and this project will only help to enrich their experiences with the digital world of art.
