My Students
My students are bright, creative, and compassionate. I enjoy watching their little eyes light up when they get to watch an educational video on their favorite science topic, when they conquer a difficult math problem, or when their classmates applaud them for the writing piece they mustered up the courage to share. Even still, more than half come from low-income households. What's more, they had not had a consistent teacher from the year's start and missed several lessons, causing their behavior to deteriorate greatly. Now the class has a consistent teacher and little by little, we have transformed this dull work-space into a more inviting and safe one that better reflects the kind, warm hearts and brilliant minds into which the students are evolving. There are just a few more supplies needed. Please join us on our journey by helping provide the materials we need to further boost learning! We will be forever grateful.
My Project
Bulletin boards are a great way to showcase student work and inspire young minds. I love to observe the happy and proud faces of students who see their work displayed.
The reusable wipe-off pockets and word wall supplies will help capture students' creativity and bright minds, igniting a sense of pride in their work.
The desk nameplates, number-line, and alphabet set are a great way to remind students of basic, second grade rules of reading, writing and math; and, along with the classroom door decorations, they help create a warm, bright, and inviting environment for learning. The grade-book, copy paper, and paper organizers help me keep the classroom structured, organized, and predictable-- which is super important for these students given their start. The headphones are part of our assistive technology initiative, in which core subjects are taught through engaging centers that include a technology corner. In this corner, students participate in differentiated learning motivated by exciting digital programs that strengthen academic skills.
