My Project
Timeless literature that lasts for generations in easy to read format for struggling readers! Students will read this graphic novel with visual supports to help them comprehend academic vocabulary! They will read the book in literature circles and use the text to form hexagonal thinking group dialogue and Socratic seminars.
The author of this graphic novel uses phenomenal illustrations to bring a classic novel to life.
Students will remember this book in their years ahead. They will do gallery walks, sorting activities, academic vocabulary study, and choice board activities based on this novel. By reaching students through engaging text, they will achieve grade level expectations rapidly.
Students will be given a Dynamic Indicator of Basic English Language Skills assessment prior to reading this test and after reading the text to determine how this authentic text has helped them improve their fluency skills. Students will also be given comprehension questions to work on independently which will be used to help guide their class placement for next year and their group for class choice board projects this year.
This novel will be read over and over again by English learners for years to come!
