My Students
Many of our students participate in a backpack food program to have food on the weekends, and our school offers a monthly food bank for the entire community, which many students' families use. We are diverse with Hispanic, Haitian, Philippine, and American families.
I teach at a Title I school in Southwest Florida with students from all walks of life who deserve the same opportunities as those from affluent families.
I have a class with about half of my students in an Exceptional Student Education program. Our students are caring, considerate and hard working. Despite the low income conditions, they deserve resources that will be current and interesting. Not being able to provide them the best is heartbreaking. Each year, as a new school year begins, I build the bonds that keep me inspired to do everything possible for them.
My Project
I am a new technology teacher and while my students have learned to code on many of the online programs available, their real excitement comes from actually seeing devices work. They love to see how the code changes from moment to moment and learn to problem solve when the code does not work as anticipated.
My students love to learn new ways to play, learn and socially interact in an evolving digital world.
Using devices such as the Ozobots EVO, allow my students to start with basic skills by using color to code, to advanced skills using OzoBlockly for coding. In addition, I want my students to seek out new ways to expand their knowledge and ask questions about what and why they learn things. Finally, Ozobots include over 100 STEAM lessons! This allows students to use their creativity all while learning to code.
