Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Help my students become voracious chapter book readers! Our school library has a limited selection of popular chapter book series in Spanish. My kids LOVE Captain Underpants, Judy Moody, Stink and Magic Tree House and are eager to read all of them. Help us start a fun class library!

The students in room 106 are AMAZING.

They are kind, generous, compassionate and eager to learn. My students are predominantly 1st generation immigrants from Central America. Our school is ranked at the bottom of our district in terms of CA state test scores. These kids need all the support they can get in the classroom to become (and stay) interested in reading. Most students have parents who work more than one job and thus have little free time to read to them or take them to the local library. A vibrant and exciting in-class library would allow these kids access to the fun chapter books they crave.

My Project

These chapter books will allow my students easy access to fun and readable books. Series like Captain Underpants, Judy Moody and Stink are fun and exciting books. These types of books will hook these early readers into a lifetime of literary enjoyment. We DO NOT have a good selection of funny chapter books in my class now. This gift would triple the size of our library and undoubtedly inspire my students to read, read, read!

This donation will completely redo and revitalize our classroom library.

All these books will be cherished and read for years in our room. This gift will be the ticket to fun reading for many, many needy third graders.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
