This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students have grown up in an inner city. Many of these children face poverty, violence, and difficulties of life on a daily basis that are well beyond what most of us could not imagine. They are always looking to learn new things and explore different subjects more in depth. They come to school hungry for knowledge, trying to do their best to learn as I try to do my best to give them a good education and an introduction to the American way of life.

Murals are a great way to boost the morale of the community, while also giving artists a chance to showcase their skills on a large and public platform.

With these canvas supplies, students will be able to bring their designs to life and have an opportunity to leave their mark on our campus. Students will also be taught skills they may use outside of the classroom, such as proposal writing and marketing.

Designing and creating murals could be a future profession for some of these students. Street art and muralism are a growing trend, students may get a head start with developing their skills and have the potential to make a career or side job as a muralist.
