My Project

Cane Cafe Training Center is a cafe ran by W. High School special education program. Students in this academy serves our faculty and staff on a weekly basis. Students will learn job related skills in the food industry by working in various positions such as Cashier, Barista, Server, Dishwasher and Maintenance. Students will have the opportunity to gain real life work experience that supports their ability to maintain a job position in the workforce by focusing on job related skills such as working with money, customer service, hygiene/sanitation, safety, communication, following directions, working in a team, etc.

During COVID our service was put on hold to reevaluate protocols along with most of our students .

Our students learning were impacted during this time as they were limited in their hands on experiences in learning job related skills. They were limited in their in-person interaction with our customers (faculty and staff) in who provides most of these experiences.

The requested resources will help our training center give our students hands on work based learning skills. Our requested printer and ink will allow our kids to be creative in creating sublimated tumblers in which our faculty and staff will have an option to have their drinks served in them. Our requested cash register will give my students hands on industry standard skills in working with a cash register.
