My students need a document camera in order to have clear and accessible visuals that support my lessons and their learning.
My students will give you hope for the future because they are so resilient, willing, curious, and full of hope themselves. They come to school ready to learn and with hope that their efforts will help them and their families assimilate and succeed.
Many of my students are bilingual and English language learners.
They are second or third generation Americans with parents or grandparents from the Dominican Republic, South American countries, Puerto Rico and Palestine. Other cultures are also represented in our diverse school that receives Title One funding and free breakfast and lunch.
Our Feltonville neighborhood and school has many benefits and some challenges in its rich diversity.
My wonderful fourth grade students, with varying degrees of English language proficiency, rely on concrete visual examples to support their learning. Projecting information to the whole class through the document camera will really enhance all students' ability to focus and learn.
Overhead projection will give the students "hands-on" opportunities as well.
They'll love to come forward and write on the papers projected whether they are showing sentence edits, new vocabulary, or math computation. Teacher demonstrations with student participation using math manipulatives such as fraction bars and base ten blocks will be very engaging.
Presently the Smartboard in my classroom is inoperable. A document camera would be a perfect fix!
DonorsChoose makes it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need. Public school teachers from every corner of America create classroom project requests, and you can give any amount to the project that inspires you.
