My wonderful fourth grade students, with varying degrees of English language proficiency, rely on concrete visual examples to support their learning. Projecting information to the whole class through the document camera will really enhance all students' ability to focus and learn. Overhead projection will give the students "hands-on" opportunities as well. They'll love to come forward and write on the papers projected whether they are showing sentence edits, new vocabulary, or math computation. Teacher demonstrations with student participation using math manipulatives such as fraction bars and base ten blocks will be very engaging. Presently the Smartboard in my classroom is inoperable. A document camera would be a perfect fix!
