My Students
My students are a wonderful group of creative and talented high schoolers. Before coronavirus closed our school my students showed an immense commitment to both their arts and academic education. The students come from neighborhoods near and far as they traveled up to 2 hours each way to participate in the unique arts and academic education offered at our school. Students then participated in the longest public school day in our great city and still they often stayed after school for both academic and arts enrichment.
Since coronavirus has shuttered our schools, students and teachers at our school are demonstrating the meaning of fortitude.
My students are learning remotely. Their lessons are both videotaped and live. Just like it was pre-pandemic, my school is a true melting pot of cultures, languages, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
My Project
The webcam, microphone, and whiteboard will be used by me to help make synchronous (live) and asynchronous (recorded) lessons to keep my students learning and engaged. When technology limits quality it is difficult to follow along. Having better technology I hope to make my lessons more engaging for students. Having a whiteboard will allow me to bring the classroom experience during remote learning.
With better technology I can make it so my students don't feel like they are teaching themselves but instead we are working together to ensure their learning continues remotely at home.
The microphone will help cancel background noise and make lessons easier to follow with less distractions. The whiteboard can make it so students questions can be addressed immediately and they don't have to feel like they are teaching themselves.
