My Students
I teach kindergarten in rural West Texas in a very isolated community. We are a Title I school where 80% of students qualify for free or reduced lunch. Many are English Language Learners.
My students are curious, energetic, and love to learn.
They are building foundational skills and discovering the world around them. Because of their isolation and economic resources, they have limited experiences with the larger world. My hope with all my projects is to bring the world to them.
My Project
A document camera would allow me to project a page or book for the whole class to see. They turn my regular book into a big book. The document camera would enable all my students to view my whole group demonstrations.
A document camera is what every dusty old overhead projector wished it could be.
It would be used in every subject area and aspect of our day. Using a document camera would allow me to better teach whole class lessons, thus creating more discussion, interaction, and better maintaining student attention. Document cameras make demonstrating the scientific process easier. The camera would allow me to put story problems under the camera for the class to work together.
