This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are kindergarteners in the Hartford Connecticut School District. They are vibrant, energetic and full of inquisitive thoughts. Many of my students do not have access to specific resources that they need to practice assignments at home and the lack of supplies can sometimes hinder their progress. In addition, many of my students have experienced trauma and hardships and I am amazed at their resilience every day. They come to school each day ready to learn and grow.
My students walk into my classroom each day with a feeling of excitement and wonder about the world.
They are inquisitive, caring and kind. In our classroom, we build a community of kindness and good values and we pride ourselves on making good choices. We practice building positive relationships, following directions, and accessing education in a multitude of different ways. We celebrate our progress together and we lift up and persevere through our difficulties as well. We are a school family that applauds our successes and supports our new endeavors. My students are funny and full of joy and they absolutely love learning. They are truly the light in my day and I am so grateful to be their teacher.
My Project
With the upcoming switch to Hyrid Learning, my students will be both learning from home as well as in school. We use technology everyday in our classroom and the students use their ipads on a daily basis. They use technology to read books, use the iReady diagnostic platform as well as an app called SEESAW for both math and literacy activities. They love using the technology and look forward to it every day, but I do need headphones in order to provide a calm and quiet environment for them to learn while in the classroom and at home. Many of my students are noise sensitive and do get distracted easily and that's why I need your help. This project will help my students tremendously for we will now be using ipads and technology while we transition from in person to the hybrid model of learning even more. They will need to be able to hear instructions clearly so they can respond to the best of their ability. They will use them every day and it will aid in their learning tremendously. I truly appreciate you taking the time to donate to this great kindergarten classroom. They are the highlight of my day and I would love to be able to share such a gift with them.
