Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

One of my favorite childhood memories was going out and exploring nature. I loved when our science teacher took us outside to a nearby pond and we got to listen to frogs croak or when we collected tadpoles and journaled the evolution process. One year, we mapped the phases of the moon and another we hunted for hidden treasures in rotting logs. Other subjects participated as well, Social Studies taught us how to navigate a map using a compass and in math class, we learned measurement and conversions as well as how to calculate how tall a tree was based on its shadow. It doesn't matter how old you are, there is so much to learn about in nature.

Please help me provide these types of experiences to my students by providing us with two-way walkie talkie radios to keep them safe!

The walkie talkies that your donation would purchase will be used to ensure constant communication between teachers during field trips away from the school building. These wireless two-way radios are compact, easy to carry and cover a range of up to 1.5 miles. With this resource, we can take our students to a nearby state park, so that they can participate in educational scavenger hunts, science inquiry projects, and so much more throughout the school year. Currently, we are planning a scavenger hunt field trip so that students can practice the skills they need to succeed on their SBA State Testing in a fun and engaging way. Please help me provide these great nature-focused trips to my students that they will remember for years to come.
