My Students

My school is a Title I school with most of our students receiving free and reduced lunch and a high population of English Language Learners. Like many other schools, our students are coming to us with many challenges that are affecting their learning.

My students like to set goals and work together for all to reach them.

They are bright, creative, and full of questions! They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging activities and challenges. My students enjoy community and building strong relationships. They thrive on positive encouragement. From the time the morning bell rings, we focus on their potential and their ability to grow and succeed. I may not be able to control what happens after school, but I work hard to teach them the necessary skills and provide security while they are with me.

Each child in my class absolutely loves learning, although the method and environment in which they learn best vary greatly. They are truly a unique group, and I am so lucky to have a new group of learners that are excited and ready to learn each year!

My Project

These headphones will be game changers for my young learners. We do many activities on our Chromebooks in the classroom and it is very difficult for young students to stay focused on their own learning if they are distracted by other students’ sounds and exciting noises. I would like to provide independent, differentiated learning opportunities for my students by using technology and educational computer games and programs. We also do our Benchmark Assessments on our Chromebooks. Headphones would help students with their concentration during these important assessments to help show growth through the year.
