Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My school serves approximately 600 students in a suburb of Seattle. We have a population that is 60% Hispanic and nearly 71% of our students qualify for the Free and Reduced Lunch Program.
Our building serves our developmental pre-Kindergarten as well as our districts Dual Language program.
My Project
Within the walls of a school, communication is of the utmost importance. Communication with families is always one of our number one priorities. However, communication between staff is critical.
If you have ever seen an elementary school at afternoon dismissal time, you know that it can be an extremely hectic situation!
Our students, staff and families rely on 2 way radios to ensure students are safe and get to where they need to go at the end of the day.
With your donation, we will be able to have enough working radios for every staff member at afternoon dismissal. This will allow us to quickly and effectively communicate the specific location of students, parents as well as alert our administration team if their assistance is needed. They will also assist in our car pick up procedures, providing more cohesive, clear instructions for students as their cars arrive to pick them up.
