This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are very social! They love to talk to anyone and everyone about any topic they can think of. They care deeply about each other and what is going on with their friends and classmates. This sociability makes for excellent collaboration in the classroom. They are also very inquisitive and ask a lot of questions about any topic we are learning. They want to know as much as they can about the world around them. This can lead to some very interesting conversations and discussions. One question leads to an answer that they have another question about, and another question, and another question. We can go from reading Judy Moody to having a very deep conversation about the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960's.

My Project

In our classroom students will have access to iPads that link to what we are learning. Our curriculum has an online aspect that has listening portions and the possibility to read texts to students for those who need it to ensure that all students have access to the reading. Some of our differentiated intervention and enrichment programs are used on iPads as well, and students need to listen to instructions and reteach lessons as they are going through the lessons. Without headphones it makes difficult for students to focus on their own lesson instead of the person's next to them or the teacher who is working on a different skill with a different group. By having headphones, students will better be able to focus on their own work and go at the pace they need.
