My Students

I teach 6th, 7th and 8th-grade orchestra and piano classes. This year, I am blessed to have 60 orchestra students and 150 students will come through my door eager to learn how to play the piano. This is the second year, in 4 years, that piano is being offered to all 3 grade levels.

Each student should be given every opportunity to achieve at his/her optimum level.

This means that my students should have access to higher quality material to match their eagerness to learn and to guarantee that there are no barriers to making sure they are successful in my classroom. My students come from various economic backgrounds and my school and district are unable to fund projects that are beyond basic needs.

My Project

Headphones are used on a daily basis in my classroom. This results in wear and tear with 3 different students utilizing the same pair of headphones each day. Whether it's being able to only hear through one ear or the headphones going in and out with the sound due to a shortage in the cord these headphones are falling apart. We are in dire need of new headphones!!

By donating to our project, you will help improve student attention and focus as well as academic achievement.

With 30 students practicing their music and a few (like 5 or 6 and counting) of them not able to use headphones, due to not having enough that work, focus goes out of the window. Getting these new headphones will show the students just how important the piano program is and because of the increase in their focus levels, they will feel more successful.
