My Students

The students at our school have great academic successes; however, many students in our school have great financial difficulties due to poverty. We are trying to become a STEM-certified school this year and are doing PBLs each nine weeks to help students learn twenty-first century skills. This nine week period we are doing a PBL unit on drama and music, something that has never been done at our school because of lack of funding for a teacher.

Our students are so hungry for drama and the arts.

The PBL part of the day has become the highlight of most of our students. Along with a Christmas play with music, we are planning a community-wide dinner theater that will occur before the presentation. We do not have an auditorium, so this play will have to take place in our gymnasium. This will allow us to have enough seating; however, the acoustics in the gymnasium will prevent the audience from hearing the actors clearly.

We recently were given a sound board, but we desperately need wireless mics for the actors to be heard. We are hoping we can meet this goal and make this community event a yearly tradition.

My Project

The wireless microphone system will allow our students to be heard when performing the Christmas drama in the gymnasium. We have twenty-two actors and actresses in the play and many are soft-spoken. The wireless mic system we have selected has sixteen wireless mics. There are a few of our students whose voices project and do not need a microphone.

Actors in plays should be seen and heard.

The play is filled with humor and local colloquialisms. It also portrays the beautiful message of unconditional love. We want everyone to be able to hear and enjoy every aspect of this performance.
