My Students

Hi! Hello! Thanks for checking out my DonorsChoose.org Project! I appreciate you taking the time to do so!

My 5th graders are on the path to ROCK their 5th grade year!

These kids are smart, motivated, and LOVE learning! While you might think that all fifth graders are alike, my students are diverse in many ways. From their learning styles to their clothing style, their preference in music to their dialect, their foundation in math to the foundation of their home life. While my students are all wonderfully different, it does create a challenge to meet each students needs, academically. Which is one reason I LOVE the I-Ready Program. It helps to bridge the gap in the classroom for those students who are above, below, and on grade level in my math classroom.

I have students who are two to three grade levels below a 5th grade level in some math standards. Using I-Ready in my classroom ensures that these students get practice with the skills that they have not yet mastered. It is a great tool that will help me to make each of these amazing kids successful this year, and many to come.

My Project

In 5th Grade math class, we use the instructional curriculum program I-Ready at least twice a week! My classroom needs a class set of headphones so that EACH of these students has the opportunity to actually listen to their I-Ready lesson on the Chromebooks.

Imagine a class of 25+ students, each listening to a different instructional math lesson at the same time... Would you consider this an environment conducive to learning?

Take it from the teacher who hears all 25 of them going on at the same time...It is not! Some of my students have their own headphones and I always encourage them to use their headphones, but others do not have their own headphones. These students will either A) borrow a set of my dinosaur headphones *disclaimer: I only have 4 that work* or B) they listen to their lesson on the Chromebook with the volume turned up at an "acceptable" noise level. Neither of these options is​ "optimal" for my standards. These I-Ready lessons are important to the students overall growth and skill development in math class. I want to supply headphones for each student so that they can be as successful as possible in my classroom. Please consider donating, I can ensure you that these headphones will be put to good use on an almost DAILY basis.
