My Students

My kindergarten students come to school each day with enthusiasm and boundless energy. They walk in every day with an excitement to learn and play.

I teach at a Title One school in Wisconsin which participates in the Community Eligibility Program (CEP) where 100 percent of the students receive free breakfast and lunch.

My students come from a variety of ethnic backgrounds. My classroom includes students with special needs, English language learners as well as students with academic and behavioral challenges.

My Project

When my young students are learning to read, it is crucial to read aloud. Students are first learning individual sounds. When they are aware of these sounds, they begin to realize when they put these sounds together they make words.

The Whisperphones will enhance the students’ ability to clearly hear the sounds and words they are producing.

I will use the Whisperphones during Guided Reading with a small group of students. Students may also use these during independent reading time or while reading with a partner. The Whisperphones are a great tool to help increase phonemic awareness and help eliminate distractions as they are reading alone, with a partner or in a small group.
