I have an amazing group of sensational second-grade students! I work at an inner city Title I school with limited resources. All of the students qualify for free breakfast and free lunch. Very few students have access to technology beyond the school setting. They look forward to using technology in class.
This diverse group of learners, who come from different background, have a variety of talents and abilities and are eager to learn.
I have a student from Pakistan, one Hispanic student, one Caucasian, and the rest are African-Americans.
My students are on a grade level that does not include standardized testing. Therefore, the focus on resources is first aimed at grades 3-5. They are very resilient and adapt to changes. We can not afford to wait until grade 3 to lay out a strong foundation for the teachers in grades 3-5. Therefore, we are working hard to create a caring culture of trust, academic instruction, and collaboration so students can graduate ready for college and career.
My project entitled "Can You Hear me Now?" is a valid question. The requested AmazonBasics On-Ear headphones will make a tremendous difference. They will give students access to numerous instructional computers sites that require auditory interaction.
There are not enough headphones in our school for each student.
Therefore, my students are limited to a small window of time when having to share headphones. Having time during Center Rotations will be enhanced and improved with appropriate technology. These headphones will remain in the classroom with the students and not disappear like numerous others that have been loaned out and never seen again.
