This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are an elementary school in Dallas, TX, whose population is mainly comprised of minority and low-income students. Most of my students' experiences are limited to our city and surrounding cities. The school is their main source of broadening their experiences about the world through the wonderful explorations in science. These science supplies and equipment are vital in making my students' school and life experiences richer. This is where your kind support will become vital in helping achieve this end.

My Project

In a digital age, my students need experience using technology. This technology component is essential and complementary to their science inquiry lessons. It allows the students to take their concrete experiences to the abstract with virtual science labs. They listen to videos based on topics we cover. For some of my students, reading is a challenge based on their disabilities. Being able to listen to the Reading Science selections or science practice questions and games, keep these students motivated. My students are better able to concentrate when there are not over twenty computers producing separate sounds simultaneously. They often go from classroom to classroom to borrow headphones to make their learning more meaningful. Having a class set of headphones would not only benefit my students, but also those in the other classrooms whom they inevitably distract.

Your donation to this project would complete my students' experience of science by allowing them to build on their scientific investigations.

These are students who struggle just to bring a pencil to the classroom. In an age where technology in the classroom is as vital as a pencil, my students will be better equipped. Thank you for your generosity!
