As a teacher in a low income/high poverty school district, I work with students who are faced with several challenges, both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I want my students to know that they are valued and I want to provide them with creative and meaningful learning experiences!
My scholars enjoy coming to school every day, and each day they are eager to learn something new!
They like to move, they love to read, and they are eager to seek positive attention. From the minute they walk in the door of the classroom, I am determined to focus on their potential and academic growth. I may not be able to control their home lives; however, I can certainly help foster a nurturing environment and engaging learning experiences for them. By creating a love of learning I hope to inspire my scholars to continue on a path of academic excellence!
My Project
The use of Chromebooks is a daily activity in my classroom, especially during literacy. As upperclassmen in our school, my scholars each have their own Chromebooks to complete daily tasks on. However, several of the wonderful programs we use are interactive and I constantly have to remind students to lower the volume on their Chromebooks, almost to the point they can't hear what they need to do!
These headphones will enable my scholars to use the Chromebooks effectively in our busy classroom setting.
Allowing each scholar to have their own set of headphones will help them eliminate distractions and focus on increasing their learning!
By donating to our project, you will be giving my scholars a storage place for their headphones and help to improve and hold their attention and focus. You will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement. My scholars will be able to simply focus on the academic material on their screen, and not have to worry about distracting their classmates or not hearing the directions. Plus, in this technology literate world, any interaction with updated technology will increase their desire to learn and use technology!
