My Students
My school is located in a rural community in Northern California and serves about 200 students from Kindergarten to 8th grade. Many students families work in the agricultural field. About 75% of students qualify for free or reduced school lunches.
My students have diverse academic needs and benefit from hands on experiences.
In order to meet their needs, lessons must be differentiated in order to help all students reach their potential. It's my goal that every student gets what they need to be successful.
My Project
This project will allow me to provide my students with a classroom set of books that I will use to teach 7th grade ELA standards.
My students have diverse reading needs, but they all have one thing in common when it comes to picking a book- the love of the mystery genre.
I want to use this love to create high interest lessons in order to keep students engaged. The Westing Game will not only allow me to teach 7th grade standards, but will also require students to use their problem solving and critical thinking skills necessary to be successful in ELA, math, and science.
