Camping Out with a Good Book!

My students need a tent and log seats to create a unique reading experience in our classroom. What a fun way to engage these little learners. This will create a positive reinforcement for reading.

My Students

Gnats are bright and eager to learn! They are lucky to attend our school which is a public charter school, where they are provided with creative opportunities and experiences. Students at our Title One school come from diverse backgrounds but they never let their circumstances inhibit their learning.

Both are capable and eager to learn; the key is steering them in the right direction.The students I work with range in scale from struggling, reluctant readers to proficient above grade level readers that need challenges.

My students are sponges in the world of knowledge and never cease to amaze me. They are energetic problem-solvers.

My Project

My students are fast becoming fluent readers and like to spend time practicing this new skill. However, sitting at their desk in their school chair doesn’t seem to be an appealing place to read for most of my first graders, so they find different areas around my classroom to do their reading. The requested soft seats will accommodate 21 students. I hope this will help to foster a lifelong love of reading for my students.

The tent and log cushion pillows will now be used to create a fun and creative reading nook/corner for all students to enjoy.

All of these cushions and tent will be used daily with the students. We currently have uncomfortable chairs that are not fun for everyone. But, that is about to change!

This will create a positive reinforcement for reading. I cannot wait to see the positive impact that these materials have in the classroom!
