My Project

As a teacher who is passionate about spending time outdoors, Earth Day is one of my favorite opportunities to teach my students about our environment, the importance of keeping it clean, and how to enjoy its beauty!

As we head into the warmer months, I want to create a camping scene in our classroom to introduce ways to have fun outdoors, as well as help keep our Earth clean for everyone to enjoy!

I will have the play campfire, tent, and log cushions set up on our carpet to engage them as we kick off our environment lessons. We will take turns reading with friends in the tent during ELA. We will use the log cushions to sit and tell "camp stories." I will use the play s'mores toys to introduce a s'more themed snack that students will help make. Our science lessons will start with keeping our Earth clean, but will tie into seasonal changes, living/ nonliving things, and life cycles!
