Camp Read-a-Lot: Transforming Our Kindergarten Classroom Into a Campground

Help me give my students materials to transform our classroom into Camp Read-a-Lot, so they can have a fun way to celebrate the end of the school year.

My Project

My kindergarten students have been hard at work all school year. They have learned many important lessons both academically and socially. As the end of the school year gets closer, I would like to reward them for all of their hard work through a classroom transformation day.

Transforming our classroom into Camp Read-a-Lot for a day will allow my students to have a fun way to celebrate all that they have learned in the classroom.

My former students have loved Camp Read-a-Lot, so I already have some camp themed decorations, books and even two tents. The items requested in this project will make our camp day even better. The pretend campfire will make the room feel more like a campground. Students will spend time using the mini flashlights to read in the tents. During art time, they will create their own woodland animals and bookmarks using the craft kits. They will enjoy completing their assignments for the day using the pencils that look like sticks. At the end of the day, we will enjoy a s'mores snack (graham crackers, chocolate and marshmallows). Students will take home their materials and a few camp themed prizes in the drawstring bags. This project will allow my kindergartners to make fun memories at the end of kindergarten.
